Opportunities and Resumes at REVEL’s Cannabis + Careers Showcase and Job Readiness Fair

The new year brings about a fresh start. Cannabis innovation showcase, REVEL, is offering a fresh start in 2019 by hosting a showcase and job readiness fair focusing on careers within the cannabis industry. The showcase, “Cannabis + Careers” will offer insights to curious career seekers on how to pursue a career in cannabis and what to expect in the industry. The event will take place January 24th, at SubCulture located at 45 Bleecker Street in Manhattan, New York and the job readiness fair will take place January 26th at Galvanize New York located at 303 Spring Street in Manhattan, New York.

“Governor (Andrew) Cuomo’s public support of legalizing adult-use cannabis in 2019 as well as the legalization of hemp came at the perfect time,” said Lulu Tsui, co-founder of REVEL. “People are talking and they’re curious on how they can play their part in this growing industry. Whether you’re looking for a fresh start, a career change or to build your network, there is something here for everyone. We challenge our attendees to look at the bigger picture and see how they can add their piece to the puzzle.”

“Cannabis + Careers” kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a networking reception, followed by the showcase featuring “talks” from Christine De La Rosa (Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of The People’s Dispensary, CA, OR), Joyce Cenali (Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Big Rock Partners, CA) and David Belsky (Founder of FlowerHire, CA). Joe Dimeo, host of My West Coast Buds podcast (OR), will serve as the showcase’s host.

The speakers will share their insights on what job seekers can do to make themselves appealing to cannabis companies and recruiters, as well as offer perspective on how to succeed in the industry.

In addition to the showcase, REVEL has partnered with fellow pro-cannabis organizations Cannaclusive, Mary’s List and the Cannabis Cultural Association to host the first “CannaCareer Readiness Fair.” At the fair, attendees will attend workshops and gain industry insights from representatives from Curaleaf, Weedmaps and Presto Doctor. Tickets are $20.00.

“I think the biggest misunderstanding that people have about working in cannabis is that opportunities are only available to those working directly with the plant,” said Jacobi Holland, co-founder of REVEL. “There are many opportunities to pursue in this industry than solely working with the plant. Our goal is to make sure our fair goers are knowledgeable about both the primary and ancillary sectors of cannabis so they can decide what works best for them. We encourage them to bring their resumes, questions and evaluate their current skill set so they can determine where or what to start.”

“Cannabis + Careers ” is sponsored by The People’s Dispensary, Flower Hire, Aon, CBD Cure, Word on the Tree, Dope Magazine, Plant Magic, Gron CBD, Dr. Bronner’s, Pot d’Huile, Lit Culture, Life Bloom Organics, Karezza Love, Magical Butter, and Rosebud Supper Club.
