Taking a Vacation in Vegas and Want to Buy Cannabis?

There is good news now for people who want to go to Vegas and take a chance on hitting a jackpot at one of the local casinos; however, you can now hit the water bong as well. As of July 1st, 2017, Nevada was the 5th state to legalize recreational cannabis. There are plenty of places to buy cannabis, but finding a legal place to smoke it, is a problem. Anyone over 21, can buy up to an ounce of cannabis, but you need to be on private property with the owners blessing in order to consume cannabis.

This does create a problem for tourist staying in Reno or on the strip with cannabis dispensaries on just about every street corner, and leaves them to wonder if smoking a joint could result in going to jail? The answer is yes, the derivatives of the plant are still federally banned and classified with heroin, amphetamines, and cocaine as a narcotic. Big name casino’s like the Flamingo will not allow cannabis to be consumed on their property as it would result in a loss of their gaming license.

Tourists can consume cannabis at their own risk and when it comes to consuming in public, it’s best to be discreet and don't get caught in open public or you will be breaking the law. Currently, there are consumption lounges working on venues for legal cannabis consumption, where tourist can stop by, have a puff, and be on their way without any legal repercussions. Until the laws change, you can go to Vegas and buy cannabis at any dispensary; however, smoke it like it’s still illegal and you’ll be fine.
